Until those brackets are filled in and a lawyer has read it, treat this as a statement of intent rather than a binding policy — and do not take money from families against it. Every open question is listed in the last section.
Terms & Conditions
The rules for using the academy and The Vessels — including, plainly, what exists today and what is still only planned.
Who these terms are between
These terms are between [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“Generation 3 Academy”, “we”) and each person who uses gen3academy.org or the learning platform The Vessels — students, their parents or guardians, and school staff.
Where a student is under 18, the parent or guardian who accepted these terms is responsible for them, and the student is bound through that parent.
The contracting entity, its type, its formation state and its registered address are not yet settled. Until they are, there is no legal person on our side of this contract — which in practice means the individual operating the site carries the liability personally. That is the single strongest reason to incorporate before enrolling a paying family.
Accepting these terms
You accept these terms when you create an account, or when you use the platform with an account somebody created for you. Registration also asks you to accept the Family Agreement, which describes what we store about a child, and the Privacy Policy. Read all three; they are meant to be read together, and where they conflict, the Family Agreement governs anything about a student’s data.
The public pages — the home page, About, Curriculum and The Vessels — can be read without an account and without accepting anything.
What exists today
Generation 3 Academy is being built. The curriculum is designed for grades 6–12 across four subjects, and that design is real — but only one lesson is written and playable today: Grade 6, Quarter 1, Lesson 1 (“Why Were We Created”), which is the first island of The Vessels.
Everything else described on the public pages — the later quarters, grades 7 to 12, the second island and beyond — is planned, not delivered. We give no date for it.
Curriculum content is under scholarly review and has not completed it. Nothing on this platform should be treated as a settled religious position that has been signed off by a qualified scholar, because that review is not finished.
If you are paying for access, pay for what exists today, not for what is described as coming. If a term of access is sold and the content does not grow as you expected, the Refund Policy is how you get your money back.
Accounts and access codes
- An account cannot be created without an access code issued by a school. Each code opens one student account and is consumed when used, so a code passed to a friend will not let them in as well.
- Access may be sold for a term — a month, a quarter, half a year, a year, or without an end date. When a term lapses, the account remains but the journey is closed until it is renewed.
- A parent account may be created alongside a student, or joined later using the family code shown on the child’s page. A family code alone never opens a child’s record — it creates a request, and the student must accept it.
- Staff accounts are created with a code the academy gives directly. A staff account can read the conversations of every student it teaches, so that code is never published.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account. Tell us at once if you think somebody else has it.
- We hold no email address for students, so a forgotten student password must be reset by a teacher in person.
What we ask of students
- Be truthful. Claim only deeds you really did. The platform is built around ṣidq, and a false claim costs more flame than the deed was worth.
- Do your own thinking. The AI teacher is there to ask you questions, not to hand you answers. Copying an answer in from somewhere else defeats the point.
- Keep your password to yourself. Do not sign in as anybody else.
- Write as though your teacher were sitting beside you — because they can read it.
What a parent agrees to
- To confirm honestly whether a household deed your child claimed actually happened. Confirming truthfully is the whole mechanism; confirming without looking teaches the opposite of what the deed was for.
- That answering “it did not happen” removes the flame your child was given and 30 more. Use it when you are sure. It is a lesson in truthfulness, not a punishment for a misunderstanding.
- That any gift milestone you set is a promise between you and your child. Generation 3 Academy records the amount and shows the progress, and has no part in paying it. We are not a party to it and cannot enforce it in either direction.
- That you have read section 6 of the Privacy Policy about the AI teacher recording conversations, and have talked to your child about it.
The AI teacher, and its limits
Checkpoints are Socratic discussions with an AI, not multiple-choice questions. The AI is instructed to guide rather than answer, never to fabricate a verse or a hadith, and never to issue a religious ruling.
It is a language model. It can be confidently wrong. Despite the instructions above and the checks around them, it may produce an inaccurate statement, including about religion.
Nothing the AI says is a religious ruling, a fatwa, or scholarly advice. Verify anything that matters against the Qur’an, authentic Sunnah, and a qualified scholar. Students are explicitly taught to question and verify rather than to accept an AI answer as truth — that is part of the curriculum, not a disclaimer bolted on.
The AI teacher exists only inside checkpoint discussions. The help and information buttons elsewhere show fixed, written text, deliberately not an AI, so a student cannot use a free chat to walk around the checkpoint.
If the AI service is unreachable, a checkpoint falls back to the original multiple-choice quiz so a student is never blocked.
Religious content
The curriculum covers Aqidah and Tawheed, Fiqh, Seerah and Adab, drawing on the Qur’an, the Sunnah and the tradition of Islamic scholarship.
- Content is educational. It is not a religious ruling, a fatwa, or a substitute for a qualified scholar, and it does not create any scholar–student relationship.
- Where scholars differ, we try to say so. Where a narration’s meaning is debated, we say that too — for example, the platform’s own use of the “two vessels” narration is presented as an educational analogy inspired by its language, not as a claim about how it has been interpreted.
- Qur’an audio is recorded recitation by a human reciter, never synthetic speech.
- Scholarly review is not complete. Content is marked as under review on every page, and material that has not been reviewed is removed from the page rather than merely hidden.
If you believe something on the platform is religiously inaccurate, write to [email protected]. We would rather correct it than defend it.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Sign in as somebody else, or share a password;
- Claim deeds that did not happen, or manipulate scores, flame or progress by any means other than playing;
- Attempt to make the AI teacher produce the answer, produce content unrelated to the lesson, or ignore its instructions;
- Probe, scan, overload or attempt to breach the site, the API or the database;
- Copy, scrape or redistribute the lesson content, the story or the artwork beyond your own household’s study;
- Use the platform to harass anybody, or to post anything unlawful.
There is no student-to-student messaging on the platform, so what a student writes is read only by their teacher, not by other children.
Fees, payment and refunds
Access is sold by the school, which issues the access code once payment is arranged. Generation 3 Academy takes no card details and processes no payments on this site.
Refunds are covered in full by the Refund Policy: a 14-day full refund from purchase, and a pro-rata refund of the unused term after that.
Prices, and any change to them, come from the school. A change never affects a term already paid for.
Who owns what
Ours
The curriculum, the story of The Vessels, the lesson text, the game design, the code and the artwork are ours or licensed to us. You may use them for your own household’s study or your own classroom teaching. You may not republish, sell or redistribute them.
Not ours, and not claimed
- The Qur’an and the Sunnah are nobody’s property. We claim nothing over them.
- Recitation audio is supplied by everyayah.com and belongs to its reciter and publishers.
- Typefaces are used under the SIL Open Font Licence — Amiri, Inter,
Fraunces, IBM Plex Sans and Mono, EB Garamond and Cormorant Garamond. Details in
assets/fonts/LICENSES.md. - Illustrations and story clips were generated with AI from prompts we wrote. Under current United States Copyright Office guidance, material produced purely by a generative model is not protected by copyright. We use it, but we do not claim exclusive rights in it and could not stop somebody copying it.
Yours
What a student writes stays theirs. We use it only to teach and assess that student, as the Privacy Policy describes. We do not use it to train any model, and we do not publish it.
What we do and do not promise
We will make a genuine effort to keep the platform available, accurate and safe. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the platform is provided “as is”.
In particular we do not promise that:
- the platform will be available without interruption — it depends on Cloudflare and on AI providers we do not control;
- any particular lesson, island, grade or feature will be built, or built by a date;
- the AI teacher will always be correct;
- a student will reach any particular standard, grade or outcome.
Nothing here excludes a liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and for anything a consumer protection statute makes non-excludable.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you arising out of the platform is limited to the amount paid for access in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
We are not a party to the gift milestone a parent promises their child, and have no liability in connection with it.
A limitation clause is only as good as the entity behind it. With no company formed, a court has nothing to limit except an individual’s personal liability. This clause starts doing real work on the day the entity in section 1 exists, and not before.
Suspension and termination
An account may be suspended or closed for sharing passwords, signing in as another student, deliberately misusing the AI teacher, or any serious or repeated breach of section 9. Where the situation allows, we will warn first and tell the family why.
You may stop using the platform at any time, and ask the school to delete the account. What happens to money already paid is in the Refund Policy.
If we discontinue the platform, we will give the school reasonable notice, refund the unused part of any term, and offer families an export of their child’s work first.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of [STATE / COUNTRY — to be completed], and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction, except that a consumer keeps any right to bring a claim in the courts of the place where they live.
Before going to court, please write to us. Almost everything is faster to fix than to litigate.
Governing law follows the entity’s formation state, so it cannot be filled in until section 1 is. If the first school is in Massachusetts, note that Massachusetts consumer protection law (G.L. c. 93A) permits multiple damages and attorney’s fees for unfair or deceptive practices, and a choice-of-law clause will not reliably escape it.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date at the top will change with them, and we will tell the school before a material change takes effect and ask them to pass it on. If you do not accept a change, stop using the platform and ask for a refund of the unused term under the Refund Policy.
